If you fly racing drone or high speed flying. The lower the latency, the more quickly the pilot can react.
If flying at 100Km/h, a delay of 100ms (0.1s) means your drone will travel 2.78m before you can react on the sticks, the drone has already crashed before the pilot realizes it.

The latency of your FPV camera is caused by the camera processing all of the information from the image sensor. Action cameras like the GoPro are processing highly detailed images (up to 4k) while also outputting live video to your FPV transmitter. This means they have a lot more information to process.

FPV camera sizes are determined by the width – the distance between the two side mounting holes.

 

The common sizes are:

  • Standard, aka “full size” (28mm)

  • Mini (21mm)

  • Micro (19mm)

  • Nano (14mm)

Field of view (FOV) is the maximum area of a sample that a camera can image.

Camera angle increases, you have more thrust pushing you forward.  This means not just that you can fly faster, it means that you have to fly faster to maintain a constant altitude at that angle.
